David vs Goliath Animatic (part 1)

Well, this was fun to do.

If you keep annotation on, you can read the dialog. I don’t have any voice actors so this is gonna be like a silent film.

I still need to tighten the rest because they’re all roughs at this point, and there are a lot of hook-up problems that need to be fixed, but I thought I’d share this because it came out decent. This is the first 11 scenes. The sequence has about 60+ scenes total. Hope you guys enjoy it. I certainly had fun making it.

So I've decided to call this hand-to-hand combat assignment "David vs Goliath." The first two scenes can be found in the previous post as an animatic. This one's just gonna be board panels because I'm too lazy to make an animatic.

Since this one is image-heavy, I'm putting the rest of the boards under cut. The rest of the boards can be found after the jump.

Digitally Coherent

Drawing with a tablet has always been the bane of my existence, but now that I finally managed to find a brush setting that works for me, it doesn't seem so bad anymore. The overly smooth look of digital art has never been my cuppa tea, so the solution is to use a "jittery" brush.

I named the brush "Caffeine Addict".

Pick any Elliptical brush and change the settings:
Angle: 18°, Roundness: 45%, Hardness: 100%, Spacing: 1%
Shape Dynamics - Size & Angle Jitter 100%, Minimum diameter: 0px, Roundness jitter 39%, Minimum Roundness 9%
Other Dynamics - Opacity Jitter 15%, Flow Jitter 100%

It's 7AM now, so it's time to sleep, but I got the first two scenes of this week's board done.

Storyboard Assignment #6

Week 6 assignment was to board a scene using Gollum's monologue in LOTR: Two Towers. We were supposed to use two characters, but I've never done mirror play before so I thought I should try out something new, and I picked Joker because I can't think of another character psychotic enough to do a Gollum monologue.

The entire animatic is timed but on some parts the audio is still a bit off-sync. I'm not sure why because when played on Storyboard Pro it sync'd up quite nicely. I could spend hours tweaking and exporting until it comes out perfect, but I'd rather move on to other things. Towards the end the boards get a bit more sketchy and the acting is less posed out because I ran out of time. Probably shouldn't have started this the day before it's due.
